Audio Pixel Collider

While taking Real-Time Video Programming, taught by Kyle Evans, I had the opportunity to perform at the Audio Pixel Collider event, a collaborative performance combining the work of a VJ (video jockey), DJ, and lighting designer. The goal was to synchronize the visuals with the music, creating a dynamic atmosphere that enhanced the audience's experience. For the event, I was tasked with creating ten video sketches as a VJ, each designed to complement the two songs I was assigned. In real time, I adjusted and transformed video sketches, morphing them or switching between different sketches, while also syncing the movements to the BPM of the songs.
This experience challenged me to perform live in real-time, where I had to trust my instincts and react quickly to the evolving atmosphere. I learned to balance creative preparation with spontaneity, ensuring that my visuals were both prepared and flexible. Additionally, the event emphasized the importance of collaboration, as I worked closely with other artists to ensure that our elements, video, music, and lighting, seamlessly came together. This hands-on experience significantly improved my ability to work in a live, collaborative setting while refining my technical and creative skills.
